KIDS COMP PROGRAM

Kids Comp Camp is a digital literacy initiative that seeks to front the spread of digital literacy amongst kids living in rural and marginalized communities in Africa. This event is organized by African Centurion - a social intervention initiative that aims at using knowledge transfer as a formidable tool in fighting Africa’s Big 3: Ignorance, Poverty and Sickness, among African youths. The project begins in Machakos County. A few kilometres away from Nairobi. Masii Township Primary School has agreed to host us. Masii Christian Chapel has partnered with us to mobilize the community towards the project. So far 60 Kids have signed up; we project the number to expand to 80. 20 volunteers’ trainers have confirmed their attendance; we project the number to grow to 30. Spark interest, among young learners with no prior experience on computers, to digital technology through equipping them with basics of digital literacy skills. This is a project under health. We are working in various hospitals which are usually understaffed, or accept extra help needed. Heart to Health project bridges this path by bringing in quality EPs who will help these hospitals and motivate these patients as this is something that is over-looked by the Kenyan staff. In addition to working with nurses, the EP is counted on to be a friend to the patients and make them feel wanted and feel like they are cared for, which is something that helps a great deal in the recovery process of the intern.
